Lesson Information
Each session includes six classes of instruction
Sessions are intended to last six weeks but may run long due to inclement weather.
Introductory Classes
- New Riders
- For ages 10 to adult. The first class is a mandatory orientation. It will cover safety, ground handling, grooming, and tacking-up. Riding will begin with the second class, emphasis on position of the rider and use of the aids in directing the horse at both the walk and trot. *Riders may graduate to "regular group" lessons.
1 1/2 hour classes - $180 per six-class session
Riders will remain "new riders" until they can pass safety, ground handling and tacking-up tests. Once these skills are achieved they graduate into "regular group" status.
- New Pony Riders
- These introductory lessons are for children ages 7 and up and weighing 80 lbs. or less. Classes cover safety, ground handling, grooming, bareback riding and eventually riding with a saddle. Riding position and control of the pony are taught with the use of simple exercises and games. This is a great way for kids to start riding!
1 hour classes - $120 per six-class session
Private lessons are available by arrangement on a limited basis.
Regular Group Lessons
Regular group lessons are offered for a variety of skill levels and interests. Skill and knowledge tests are given to enable students to graduate to higher levels. Class sizes indicated below will depend on the level of the riders. Lower level riders will always have smaller classes than more experienced riders. Beginner riding includes instruction in equitation, mounted drill, and games for fun and control. As riders advance in ability jumping is introduced, more mounted drill and faster games, as well as trail riding.
Levels in ascending order are: New Rider, Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Low and High Intermediate, and Advanced.

- Regular Pony Riders
- For ages 7 - 9 that have graduated from the New Pony Riders or have previous horsemanship experience.
Class size - 2 to 4 riders 1 hour classes - $120 per six-class session
- Junior Group
- For ages 10 - 17 that have completed "New Riders" or have previous horsemanship experience. Classes are organized according to skill level.
1 1/2 hour classes - $160 per six-class session
- Adult Group
- For ages 18 & up that have completed "New Riders" or have previous horsemanship experience. Classes are organized according to skill level.
1 1/2 hour classes - $160 per six-class session
Lessons on your own horses
